Tony Thomas

Tony started his professional career with an international accountancy firm which is now part of Ernst Young in its financial consulting division. He worked in various offices of the firm including a stint in Los Angeles. This experience covered a diverse spectrum of medium to large organisations including mining, retail, rural interests and infra-structure companies.
Tony spent the next part of his career in a corporate advisory role with a local merchant bank in Brisbane. This involved M & A activity, corporate re-structuring and fund raising.
Subsequently Tony became financial controller for a major ASX listed company with responsibility for corporate reporting and tax matters.
He returned to public practice to become a partner in Robertsons Chartered Accountants in 1990. In the time since he has drawn on his previous experience as well as developing a significant involvement with high wealth individuals, SME’s and superannuation funds.
Tony has been involved in some high profile public sector enquiries starting with the Fitzgerald Inquiry and more recently with a report into the financial activities of the Speaker of the Queensland Parliament.
Tony holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, a Master of Financial Management Degree and is a member of the Australian Society of Accountants (FCPA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA) and the Taxation Institute in Australia (FTIA). He is a registered Company Auditor and holds a Financial Services licence.
Tony retired from his position as a Director in the firm at 30 June 2011, but has been retained in a consulting role due to his vast level of experience.
His personal interests include being an avid sports fan, live theatre goer as well as travelling.
